Real Wedding (Elopement): Davina & Daniel

Photography: Ben Chrisman Photography

Photographer's Snippet: I got an email a few days before Christmas from Daniel, who said he was a wedding photographer in Canada and that he was going to propose to his girlfriend (who is also a wedding photographer) on Christmas Day and that they would elope to Las Vegas. He asked if I would be able to come to Las Vegas to photograph their "cheezy ceremony" before they flew to Thailand for vacation. Davina and Daniel had talked about getting married in Vegas before, but she didn't have any idea Daniel would be asking when he did. But even before she said 'yes', Daniel and I had all the plans ready and I flew out early on a Sunday morning. They got hitched in the "Little White Chapel" where Britney Spears also got married. It was perfectly tacky, exactly the way they wanted it. Then we went exploring the strip, and after a few blisters from walking everywhere, we ended the night with some great vodka tonics at a sushi bar. Davina and Daniel plan to have a bigger wedding sometime in the future, and I certainly hope I get to be a part of that as well. In fact, they are saying they are still just engaged and that the next one will be the 'real' wedding. What happens in Vegas ...

What I wouldn't give to have such a beautiful elopement instead of the dinner dance event I'm headed for. These pictures are some of the most intimate I've ever seen. I think it's a wedding like this that brings back the true meaning of what it means to get married.
